Things to know before cosmetic embroidery and healing process

Eyebrow embroidery is not the same as eyebrow tattoo

Although both techniques work to insert pigment into the skin, Eyebrow Embroidery and Eyebrow Tattoo are not the same. Tattoo is a permanent coloring technique and the embroidery is considered semi-permanent makeup as the pigments will fade over time. Traditional Eyebrow Tattoos are relatively thinner and less natural-looking as compared to the Eyebrow Embroidery as the embroidery utilises hand-drawn techniques to mimic the look of real brow hairs.

Besides, Eyebrow Embroidery and Eyebrow Tattoo use different kinds of ink. While traditional Eyebrow Tattoo may turn blue or green over time, Eyebrow Embroidery stays true to the original colour even if the colour fades over time.

The process

The whole process will take approximately 2 hours to complete. First, your brow artist will trim and design your eyebrows to the desired shape.

Then, a numbing cream will be applied for 15-20 minutes to ensure comfort throughout the process. The pigments will then be inserted into your skin with disposable needles.

In between the procedure, you can ask for a more numbing gel to be applied to keep the process pleasant.

It’s a delicate process, therefore, it’s important to have your Eyebrow Embroidery done by a certified and experienced brow artist to minimize the potential risk for infection.

How long does it last

Eyebrow embroidery, commonly known as microblading or shading, typically lasts between 12 - 18 months.

Eyebrow embroidery is semi-permanent and gradually fades over time, it is considered a long-lasting option for achieving fuller and more defined eyebrows. Regular touch up is recommended to the longevity of the results, making it a popular choice for individuals looking to enhance their eyebrow appearance without daily maintenance.

Eyebrow Embroidery aftercare

Immediately after your first eyebrow embroidery session, you may notice that the brow area is slightly red, especially if you have sensitive skin.

But don’t worry, this is completely natural!

Furthermore, until your eyebrow embroidery is completely healed, do not touch the treated area with your hands (and skip the eyebrow pencil and concealer!) to reduce the risk of infection.

Do not let any water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch your eyebrow area during the first 7 days after your procedure. Please wash your face carefully around the eyebrow without getting water on the treated area. During the shower, keep your face away from the shower head or take a bath.

After eyebrow embroidery, it’s important to avoid the following:

  1. Touching or scratching the eyebrows, as this can cause infections or interfere with the healing process.
  2. Exposing the eyebrows to water, sweat, or excessive heat as this can cause the pigment to fade or become blurry.
  3. Using skincare products, such as exfoliants or creams, avoid directly on the eyebrows without first consulting with your aesthetician or dermatologist.
  4. Going out in the sun without protection as ultraviolet (UV) light can cause the pigment to fade or change colour.
  5. Applying makeup for at least 7-10 days after the procedure or until fully healed.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your eyebrow embroidery heals properly and looks great for longer.

Can I wash my face after eyebrow embroidery?

After embroidery, you should avoid getting the eyebrows wet for at least 3-7 days or until the area is fully healed. Avoid wetting your brows or standing directly under the shower head at this stage of the healing process.

Instead, you can gently clean around the treated area with a damp cloth, keeping the brows dry.

Or you can use "Tegaderm film" that you can get it from "watson" or "guardian".

Use this "tegaderm film" whenever you going in to shower. Remember to apply repair cream before putting on this film. You might also need to use scissor to cut it for not wasting the extra.

Once the area is fully healed, you can resume your normal skincare routine, but you should avoid using any exfoliants or products that contain alcohol, as these can irritate the skin and cause the pigment to fade.

If you have any questions or concerns, it’s best to consult with your brow artist for specific aftercare instructions.

After Eyeliner Embroidery

Eyeliner Embroidery

Day 1 to 3

Immediately after the procedure, your eyeliner will look darker and bolder. This is normal and is due to the redness of the eye area. You may also experience a slight sensation of pain or discomfort, but this should subside within a few days.

Keep the eyes area clean. Wash the eyes lid by using eye wash or eye drop gently for the first 2 days. Remember to apply aftercare cream to keep it moisture. Avoid applying any skin care or makeup on the eye area for 1 week, except the aftercare cream.

There is minimal downtime associated with eyeliner embroidery. You may experience minor swelling or redness immediately after the procedure, which usually subsides within a short time. Most clients can resume their regular activities immediately after the session.

After Lip Embroidery

Your lips may feel tight and tender. If you have more sensitive skin, you might also be prone to itching, dryness, peeling, and swelling. Don't worry, this is a normal reaction in the days after your lip embroidery appointment.

6-8 weeks

The great news is that lips tend to peel quicker than eyebrows, so it is best to a book your lip embroidery appointment on the eve of weekends to allow that 1-2 days for your lip to settle down. Peeling will continue over the next several days and actual colour will appear after 6-8 weeks.

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. A few days after the procedure, your lips would start peeling and shed off all the dead skins to reveal the new colour. In this period, they are chapped and prone to cracking. Moisturize the lips every half an hour with a heavy weight balm to ensure they are not over cracked

Normally, lip tattoo should abstain from eating sticky foods, chicken, beef, duck, greasy foods, seafood and many other foods because they stimulate inflammatory reactions, cause edema as well as slow down the process. heal.

Day 1

For the first day, expect your lips at their most fragile state the utmost care is needed.

Depending on the individual, your lips may start to swell halfway through the procedure, and rest assured it’s completely normal. When needles are inserted into the lips, naturally the body will start to get a signal to direct white blood cells to the treated area, thinking that your lips are getting ‘damaged’ by external elements.

During the treatment, you may feel a tinge of pain from the swelling and you can certainly ask your esthetician to apply numbing cream to minimize the discomfort. Plus, the pigments are not settled into the lips yet so it’s normal to see the colors look darker and more intense than the shade you chose.

To note: if your lips are swelling too much that it affects activities like eating, apply a cold compress regularly to speed up the healing process. You can use cooled cotton pads, metal spoons wrapped in a thin cloth, or even a gel eye mask to make it work. Avoid sun exposure, spicy foods, hot water, etc that can potentially hurt the lips.

Day 2 to Day 9 (Week 1)

For the first week, you can expect the swelling, tenderness, and even the pigments to subside than the first day. Expect this week for your lips to get unusually dry that it starts to chap and form scabs. Apply the aftercare lip cream to minimize discomfort and scabbing regularly, and don’t pick out the scabs, or your lips will look patchy as the pigment is not settled thoroughly within your lips.

And particularly for this week, consider this as critical and keep a vigilant eye for any symptoms (allergic reactions, redness, increased pain, etc).

Day 10 to Day 17 (Week 2)

Continuing from the first week, expect peeling and scabbing to occur albeit it’ll gradually lower. When the lips stop peeling fully it means your lips are fully healed and you can start wearing makeup if needed (though we recommend a layer of hydrating lip balm underneath to ensure your lips stay supple). This week too, expect the colors to fade more than intended so that it looks ashy than the shade you chose for the lip embroidery. Rest assured that it’s a normal body reaction as the pigments within will settle nicely, showing the true shade chosen, by the next few weeks.

After any cosmetic embroidery please avoid hot environments

Heat can cause blood vessel dilation, which may worsen swelling. Don't expose yourself to direct sun sunlight and places or activities with high temperatures. Avoid hot saunas and baths, steam, or heated exercise for at least 48 hours after your cosmetic embroidery.
